Define the contour problem
Secondary body contouring can involve skin, fat, fascial support, scar tethering, dead space, prior liposuction planes, or combinations of these.
- Contour irregularity after liposuction
- Residual or recurrent skin laxity
- Asymmetry
- Scar contracture or tethering
- Persistent bulge or support problems
- Postoperative wound failure or tissue loss
Revision is not simply more removal
Taking away more tissue can worsen an irregularity when the actual problem is deficiency, scar, or support. Diagnosis should precede technique selection.
When reconstruction enters the picture
If prior surgery has produced wound breakdown, exposed structures, tissue loss, or compromised blood supply, the problem may need reconstructive principles rather than purely aesthetic refinement.
